Mary Zell Galen is a museum and historic preservation professional passionate about community-oriented science, history, and arts institutions. She currently works as the Programs and Partnerships Specialist at the Maryland 250 Commission, where she develops programs and events as part of Maryland's commemoration of America's 250th anniversary.

Before joining the Maryland 250 Commission, she worked in the Office of Research, Survey, and Registration at the Maryland Historical Trust and for the Virginia Museum of Natural History. While in school, she interned with a variety of institutions, including the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum and the Robert Russa Moton Museum.
She earned her master’s degree in science museum studies from the Cooperstown Graduate Program at SUNY Oneonta. She received her bachelor's degree from Longwood University, where she majored in history, with a concentration in public history, and a minor in business administration.
Outside of work, Mary Zell enjoys spending her free time reading, running, and visiting museums.
