Professional Experiences

Virginia Museum of Natural History Martinsville, VA

Administrative Coordinator | 2021-2024

As the administrative coordinator, I work closely with the Virginia Museum of Natural History’s executive director on a variety of projects to achieve the institution’s strategic goals. I serve as a liaison with the VMNH Board of Trustees to plan all board and committee meetings, as well as communicating regular institutional updates with the board. I have organized all logistics and hosted nine full board meetings and approximately 20 committee meetings. I work the VMNH leadership team to coordinate details and measure outcomes for the institution’s numerous capital projects, including the construction of a museum branch campus in Waynesboro, VA. I hold public outreach events and write a bi-monthly newsletter to build community support for the project. I collaborate with the advancement team to write acknowledgement letters, analyze membership and donation data, and engage individually with museum supporters. I have also organized larger activities for museum donors, including hosting two bus trip for out-of-town supporters to tour the institution. I supervise both interns who work in the executive director’s office and interns participating in the museum’s Diversity Internship Program. While leading these programs, I have mentored six students. I also provide support for other Human Resources efforts, including coordinating annual employee evaluations and preparing employee telework plans.

As an intern in the advancement department, I developed a recommendation for a virtual membership tier and presented it to CBMM's senior leadership team. As part of building relationships with museum supporters, I also communicated with donors over the phone and wrote acknowledgement letters. Additionally, I conducted data entry and analyzed donor information using CBMM's donor management database.
